Immigration is Layered—And No One Should Be Left Behind
At Spice Market, we build with purpose. Our brand was born from the fusion of cultures, stories, and creative spirit—an embodiment of what it means to come from somewhere else, carry it proudly, and still dream bigger. But chasing your dreams isn’t always easy. Especially when immigration barriers make it harder just to get in the room.
We’ve seen it. Lived it. And it’s why we care so deeply.
Why Immigration Matters to Us
Immigration is not just a legal process. It’s a human journey—one filled with fear, hope, courage, and resilience. It’s the student who left everything behind to pursue an education in a new country. It’s the artist trying to stay afloat while waiting on visa paperwork. It’s the child separated from family at the border, or the young creative trying to build a future while navigating deadlines, restrictions, and constant uncertainty.
These stories aren’t just headlines—they’re real lives, and often, they’re lives that look like ours.
As the daughters of immigrants and the founders of Spice Market, we’ve felt firsthand what it means to live in-between. To code-switch. To translate not just language, but experience. And while we’ve been lucky to find our footing and our voice through this brand, we know so many others are still trying to find theirs—with little support. That’s why immigration justice is one of our core causes.
We support organizations that provide legal aid, emergency funding, and advocacy for immigrants—especially those in school or working in creative industries, where visa limitations can often be an invisible barrier to success.
If you’re a student facing uncertainty with your visa, or an artist or entrepreneur trying to figure out your next step, we see you. We know how difficult the system can be—and how lonely it can feel.
Here are three organizations doing incredible work to support and protect immigrants, especially youth and vulnerable individuals:
🔗 Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC)
The ILRC equips legal professionals and immigrant communities with resources, training, and policy advocacy to ensure people can defend their rights and stay with their families. Their work supports those directly impacted by unjust immigration enforcement and helps community leaders build power through knowledge.
🔗 The Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights
This organization stands up for unaccompanied children caught in the immigration system. They train and assign child advocates to ensure that each child’s best interests—safety, family reunification, and well-being—are front and center in legal proceedings. Their work is a lifeline for the most vulnerable.
🔗 National Immigration Law Center (NILC)
The NILC focuses on defending and advancing the rights of low-income immigrants in the U.S. Through strategic litigation, policy advocacy, and narrative change, they help dismantle systemic barriers and push for meaningful reform.
When we design for Spice Market, we think about bodies that don’t always feel seen. Stories that don’t always get told. Cultures that have too often been reduced or erased. We aim to celebrate all of it—with color, with craft, with care.
But our mission doesn’t end at design.
Our support of immigrant justice is rooted in the same principles as our collections: inclusivity, dignity, and heritage. It’s about making space—for your dreams, your culture, your voice, and your future.
This is bigger than fashion—it’s about building something that reflects the world we want to live in.
💌 You Can Help, Too
If you’re able, we invite you to support the organizations listed above—whether through donations, spreading awareness, or simply taking the time to learn more. And if you or someone you love is navigating immigration stress, we hope these resources are a starting point.
Immigration shouldn’t mean isolation.
And dreams shouldn’t come with conditions.
We’re proud to be part of a community that values not only where you’re from—but where you’re going.
With love,
Anjalee & Luisa
